How the Art Market Has Transformed—Radically—Over the Past 30 Years

It’s fashion’s latest cult collectable, and following the success of the first collaboration in April this year, Louis Vuitton has announced a second capsule collection with artist Jeff Koons.

Each piece in the capsule celebrates the work of an iconic artist throughout history, ranging from heralded Impressionist Manet, to ‘the painter of light’ Turner. Add to cart.

This new set of paintings relates to Koons’ connection to each of the artists. “They are part of my DNA,” says Koons. “When somebody walks down the street with this bag, or sits in a cafe with this bag it’s communicating a love of humanism,” Koons says of the Manet Neverfull style.

As with the first chapter of the Masters collection, Koons has also reconfigured the famous Louis Vuitton Monogram to bear his initials, representing a radical departure for the house who have never previously allowed it’s iconic pattern to be reshaped. Each bag will feature the artist’s name in gold lettering and Koon’s initials paired with the iconic ‘LV’ monogram.

Set to debut on October 27, this second chapter will include; Reclining Girl by François Boucher; Delightful Land by Paul Gauguin; Luncheon on the Grass by Edouard Manet; Water Lilies by Claude Monet; The Triumph of Pan by Nicolas Poussin; and Ancient Rome by J.M.W. Turner.

Koons’ ability to make art accessible and appeal to a mass audience lead to the resounding success of the first collection, and if these high-end Lourve souvenirs are anything to go by, we want one.
