Photofairs, the contemporary art fair focused on photography, digital art, and new media, recently announced the launch of an edition in Hong Kong for next March.

The inaugural edition will take place at the Central Harbourfront event space from March 26 to March 30, with its VIP day on March 26.

Photofairs Shanghai director Fan Ni will also head the new edition, which will take place during Hong Kong Art Week. Prior to joining Photofairs Shanghai in 2019, Fan Ni was associate publisher of Art Review Asia and worked at the UCCA contemporary art museum in Beijing. “Our priority is mounting a dynamic and high-quality event, so we feel it is best to hold the fair once market conditions improve,” a Photofairs spokesperson told ARTnews in an email. “In the meantime, we remain committed to PHOTOFAIRS and to its role as a vital platform and convenor for the photography and contemporary art community.”

The Hong Kong edition of Photofairs is organized by the London-based company Creo Arts in partnership with Angus Montgomery Arts (AMA), and in collaboration with Meta Media and GEG. Creo also organizes Photofairs Shanghai, which launched in 2014 and takes places in May. Creo’s majority shareholder, Angus Montgomery Arts, also organizes the art fairs Taipei Dangdai, India Art Fair, ART SG in Singapore, and Tokyo Gendai.

Creo’s founder and chief executive is Scott Gray, who also founded Photofairs Shanghai and serves as CEO of exhibition consultancy firm Angus Montgomery Arts.
